We are in LA this week to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with the P.S.- I made this team at a craft and cocktail event. If you haven’t yet checked out the ultimate DIY site be warned, you will want to drop everything and grab a glue gun.
Founder Erica Domesek and her team are fostering innovation and creativity with their clever take on everything from fashion and accessories to beauty and tech. Each project comes with crisp, clear instructions, a comprehensive list of supplies and visuals that provide the perfect motivation.
The Cinco de Mayo party event was held at Duff’s Cake Mix on Melrose. This Do-It-Yourself decorating studio is a perfect place to pop in for delicious afternoon of cake and cupcake decorating. Experts are on hand to help with your airbrush or fondant needs and you’ll leave with a gorgeous, personalized creation. It’s the new version of the paint-your-own pottery studio-but the chotchkies are edible.
But back to the Cinco de May cocktail and crafts-we want to share our new favorite spin on the margarita for your May 5th needs and summer entertaining. The girls from Patron Tequila invited us behind the bar-it is DIY after all. Four simple ingredients you can keep on hand and shake up at a moments’s notice:
DIY Grapefruit Margarita
1.5 oz Patron Silver Tequila
.5 oz Patron Citronge Liqueur
1 oz Fresh Grapefruit Juice
1/2 lime, squeezed fresh
Combine all ingredients in a shaker fill with ice. Shake, strain and serve up with a lime wheel garnish. Olé!
